Four clueless wild animals raised in the jungles of New York, rather than Africa, who suddenly find themselves — thanks to an hysterical sub-plot involving penguins — let loose in the wild. Things get further complicated when Alex, the only carnivore in the gang — and who has no idea where steaks come from — starts to get a little peckish. I'm sure the moral of this film is meant to be that love and friendship will overcome all obstacles, but I feel the lesson got lost a little amid the American style centric jokes, which went way over the heads of my little sister. I suspect if you come from America, this film will be much funnier than it is for us here in England. It might also help if you're slightly older or a film buff like me. I was cracking up over one scene lifted straight out of the original "Planet of the Apes". But don't get me wrong, this is a very funny movie, which kept my sister glued to the screen. There are enough funny moments to keep most children entertained and plenty of pop-culture references to make the oldies and music buffs smile. The lemurs, voicea are absolutely hilarious, and the baby lemur is so cute it looks like one of those Furby things come to life.'I want one!' But in truth, this film belongs to the penguins. They are the reason for most of the chaos and the funniest thing in the film. In addition to tunneling out of the Zoo, they manage to hijack a container ship, crack the computer codes, sail it to Antarctica and back again, and for the one line alone, in the scene when they finally reach their destination, this film is definately worth a watch. Check it out.... Let me know what you think, Stevie x
